The Vision
Democratizing Financial Calculations
The financial advisory industry relies heavily on calculations - from mortgage analysis to investment projections, retirement planning to loan comparisons. Yet the tools available were either expensive enterprise solutions or outdated web calculators with poor user experience. I envisioned a comprehensive mobile application that would democratize access to professional-grade financial calculations while providing the modern interface and sharing capabilities that today's financial professionals demand.
The Problem
Fragmented and Outdated Financial Tools
Through research and conversations with financial advisors, a clear pattern emerged: professionals were juggling multiple tools, websites, and even manual calculations to serve their clients. Many existing solutions were behind paywalls, lacked key functionality, or featured interfaces that felt outdated and unprofessional. There was no single, comprehensive platform that combined all essential financial calculators with modern UX and professional presentation capabilities.
The Development
AI-Accelerated Mobile Development
The two-week development timeline was ambitious but achievable through strategic use of AI-assisted development tools. Using v0.dev for rapid UI prototyping allowed me to quickly iterate on calculator interfaces, while Augment and Roo Code accelerated the React Native development process. This AI-first approach enabled focus on user experience design while maintaining development velocity. Each of the 40 calculators required its own optimized input interface and output visualization, whether displayed as cards, tables, or charts.
The Validation
Tested and Approved by Financial Professionals
Validation from US-based Financial Advisors confirmed the market need and solution effectiveness. The feedback highlighted not just the comprehensive calculator collection, but particularly the modern interface and PDF sharing capabilities that enable immediate client presentations. Users praised the intuitive input flows, professional output formatting, and the ability to export calculations as polished PDF reports for client meetings. This validation paved the way for App Store release and confirmed the white-label business potential.
The Future
White-Label and AI Enhancement Ready
The application architecture was designed with scalability and customization in mind. The white-label potential allows financial institutions to brand the app as their own, while the foundation is ready for AI enhancements including intelligent calculation suggestions, automated financial advice, and predictive analytics. With App Store release imminent, the platform represents a new standard for mobile financial calculation tools, combining comprehensive functionality with modern user experience and professional presentation capabilities.
